25 weeks!

This pregnancy has been extremely different than Luke's. First of all the hyperemesis (extreme morning sickness/vomitting), then something called diastasis pubis symphysis (pressure and pain in my pubic bone/pelvis, making it hard to move while laying down or stepping up stairs..etc.), pre-term contractions starting at 23 weeks, and yesterday came two new diagnosis'. Polyhydramnios and a shortened cervix. Polyhydramnios means excess amniotic fluid which isn't too worrisome at this point. It just doesn't help with the pressure and the contractions. (And is also the reason I look 35 weeks when I'm only 25...atleast I have an excuse ;). But because I started contracting so early and have so much fluid, my cervix has begun to shorten much too soon. Before 25 weeks this isn't a problem because they can put a stitch on your cervix to keep it closed until it's time to deliver. However, at 25 weeks and beyond, it's too late for the stitch and the only option to keeping it closed is 1st, medication (which is what we are trying now), and 2nd, bed rest. Strict bed rest.

I don't know what I'll do if it comes to that so please pray that my cervix cooperates with the medication. It's basically just a pill to help stop contractions that I take every 6 hours. It was actually pretty cool to see my body in action during the ultrasound. When I wasn't contracting, my cervix was normal and long, but when a contraction would come, it would almost shorten to half the size and looked SO short.

The good news is, baby girl is doing great and looking so cute! And luckily, Drew and I both have two weeks off starting tomorrow, so we will be relaxing as much as possible before my next appointment in 2 weeks. Luckily I work for my doc, and when I'm at work I feel extra cared for because everyone knows what's going on and wants to help me avoid bed rest or pre term delivery.

Luke seems to understand where his baby sister is and has already named her. Haha, luckily it's a name we like and is in our top three so if we happen to choose it, he's in luck! But we'll see. He's almost completely potty trained with only a few accidents here and there, which we don't worry about too much. He is starting to become more terrible two-ish. His attitude has changed drastically from my sweet little man. He yells "NO!" and orders around a lot. But we are working on it.

Today is also our 5 year anniversary of getting engaged. I can't believe it's already been 5 years but I am more in love with Drew today than ever before. He is such an amazing man. He takes care of us like nobody else could and through this crazy pregnancy, has been a saint. I feel like all I do is lay on the couch and complain and the poor man just paints my nails, and massages me, and tells me he is sorry. I can't thank my Heavenly Father enough for bringing him into my life, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have him.

And here is a little view of what our house looks like this Christmas. There are so many more decorations because we accumulated lots from friends and sales last year. It's fun to have so many decorations! I even got my own barbie tree this year :)

We are excited to be spending Christmas here in Vegas. The day after Christmas, I have to be monitored for contractions at my office and if everything looks okay we are flying to Washington to visit Drew's grandparents and brother/sister-in-law. After Washington we plan on driving to Utah for about the 5 days left of our Christmas break. But it all depends on my appointment and how Washington goes. Cross your fingers and pray for us because I'm missing Heber lots.
