Month 3

Dear Luke,

I am writing this a day early, you actually turn 3 months tomorrow. But I wanted to write right now because I need you to know what I'm feeling exactly in this moment. It's been a rough couple of days, maybe even the hardest so far. You have rarely been the happy boy I know and love, and have been especially grumpy. Daddy and I have discussed whether we think its still the gas issue or something different like maybe teething or something. Whatever it is, not much helps relieve your pain or stress or crying fits. :( However, despite how you're feeling during the day, you have slept 8 1/2 hours 2 days in a row, and last night 7 1/2. That's awesome! Please keep that up. Anyway, back to today. You woke up feeling a little better, so I hope whatever was wrong has passed. You seem to want me to cuddle you more lately, and I just cuddled you for a 1/2 hour before you fell asleep in my arms. I don't care what people/books say about not letting your child get used to getting rocked to sleep. I will rock you to sleep however/whenever you want. Its one of the best things ever. As I rocked you to sleep, our eyes were locked as you drifted off. I couldn't help but think, even though it's been a hard couple days, I couldn't love you any more than I do. I am so thankful for you and the happiness you bring to daddy and me. We will have many ups and downs, but our love for each other will continue to grow and we will always overcome our obstacles. Thanks for loving me even when I can't help whatever is wrong. I hope during month 4 you grow out of all the issues. Every doctor I talk to says you will, so let's all cross our fingers. I love you little buddy.
This month you:
-Went to the beach on our first family vacation! (pictures in previous post)
-Moved to a new home
-Went to your aunts wedding (and looked more handsome than anyone there!)
-Began sleeping through the night (maybe..lets hope it's a trend.)
-Got even better at lifting your head. You try so hard to sit up already.
-Laughed for the first time! It was a little one, but it was a laugh.
-Began talking lots more!
-Had your first constipation episode :(

Likes:
1-Bath time! (Still your favorite time of day...)
2-Eating...again and again
3-Talking MUCH MORE than last month.
4-Being held. Especially when we are out, you like to look around.
5-Your binky, although I think you are growing out of this like.
6-Sleep, YAYA
7-Hearing mommy or daddy around. You kick your legs whenever we come near!
8-Your swing and bouncy chair. You talk to the animals on them. :)
9-High pitched voices.
10-T.V.!
11-Getting lotion rubbed on you.
12-Your hands...MMM....
13-Getting sung to

Dislikes:
1-Having to go to the bathroom. This needs to change.
2-Having your diaper changed. Weirdo!
3-Waiting to eat when you're hungry.
4-Your carseat. Especially now that we live in 110 degree weather.
5-A too cold bottle
6-Being moved around when you're sleeping. You don't like to be bothered.
7-People you don't recognize to hold you or even talk to you now. You scream.
8-Not getting what you want in 1 second. (What baby likes this?)

We love you so much Luke. You change every day and I can't believe you're one month older. I hope the sleeping thing keeps up as well as your gas issues to go away this month. Lets pray for both! Love you baby boy.

Love, Mom

First Family Vacation

Drew's "old" job at Cedar Breaks got us a free week at one of the sister hotels in California. It was 40 minutes from the beach, but an AWESOME resort that was really nice. We got a two bedroom/two bathroom suite with a way nice kitchen and living room. Seriously, it was nicer than our new apartment in Vegas. :) Our friends Jenny and Craig were able to join us for a a couple days too so the second bedroom didn't go unnoticed :) We did have a whole week reserved but we didn't use our last 2 days because we came home for Drew's sister's wedding. (I'll post about her wedding next because we don't have any pics yet. It was beautiful!) Anyway, it was a relaxing vacation and we pretty much just went to the beach and relaxed every day. Other than Luke had some stomach bug and/or constipation. It was so sad. He lost his voice because he had a screaming fit at the beach. Poor boy :( He is much better this week! I even got a pic of him smiling. Here are a bunch of pics instead of talking more about it!

Watching his friend Jarrett play in his jumper...longing for the day when he can :)

Lounging in our beach tent :)

The "sand castle" contest we went to. This was the only cool one...haha.

Our first family beach pic. Luke loved it!! (haha)

Happy to be taking a break from the car seat....

Just being cute!

Silly Daddy

First of all, here are some cute pics of Luke after his 2 month appointment. He was sleeping from the tylenol and I didn't want to take him out of his carseat for the pic cause I thought he'd wake up...but I like it because it shows how much he's grown from his first car seat pic. Also, check out his cute new kicks. :)

Next, we got home from a long night playing cards with friends (for the last time in a while...love you guys) and lets just say Luke wasn't the only one who was sooo tired. Daddy put him in the bath like this..... (warning: explicit..sorry for the naked-ness :S)

If you cant tell whats so funny, hint: look at his "supposed to be bare" feet. :) I just love Luke's face...he has no idea. Anyway, short post but I just had to post a couple pics. Next post will be about our new home in Vegas and our trip to Cali! Stay tuned...

Lesson of the Day

I never understood why my parents got so emotional while I was battling my blood disorder. My dad had to leave the room whenever I'd get my blood taken, and my mom would cry whenever I cried. Well, after Luke's 2 month appointment today, I completely understand. I know it sounds dramatic but really, I would rather experience any pain I've ever experienced over and over again than see him in pain. By the third shot he was hysterical, and it took everything I had to not burst into tears as well! So lesson of the day is, the worst pain a mother can experience is seeing her child in pain. Other than that tramatic experience for both of us, he is doing great! Here are his stats:
13.7 pounds = 85th Percentile for weight.
23 inches = 50th Percentile for height.
Head Circumfrence=40 which is 50th Percentile.
The Doc says he should be outgrowing his gas and pooping issues this month sometime, and if not, we may try a prescription. But last night he slept for almost 8 hours! It was heaven. I think he is getting used to his meal times and sleep, which is a life saver since we can't really nap in the day. He is such a good/happy baby when he's not struggling with digestion! He smiles and cooes all the time to anyone who will coo back. We just love him so much and could stare at him all day long without getting bored :) Here is a cute video of him dancing...he loves it already! Must be a mommy's....well.....a mommy's AND daddy's boy!
