Month 9

Dearest Luke-

What a big boy you are now! You are growing up before our eyes, thats for sure. People aren't kidding when they say, "They grow up so fast!" My Grandma (Hawaii) Hewett, your great Grandma, said something today that brought tears to my eyes. She said to always cherish each moment because you'll never have them again. She was talking to me about how much she loves my dad (your Grandpa Jones) as he is her first born, and you are mine. My love for you really does amaze me. I hope to remember to cherish your every sound and move because she's right, I will never get THAT moment back. And there are such great ones! (And sometimes some bad ones..but I wouldn't change them for anything!) You have reached so many milestones this month!

Firsts:
-You are a "full time" crawler now. No more scooting business for you!
-You can pull yourself up on anything and everything..makes for an interesting day, let me tell you.
-You can say "GY" for doggy, and "Kiiiiii" for Kitty.
-You are a pro at Itsy Bitsy spider and do all the actions..sometimes out of order but it's okay :)
-You FINALLY got your first tooth. It popped through on Valentines day and is so cute and tiny!
-You moved up to Stage 3 baby food..haha..exciting huh.
-Your naps are slowly getting shorter and closer together, meaning you'll probably adjust to just taking one soon.
-You sing and your favorite "word" is "awww AW" (the long awww is low and then you say AW really high and fast..it's darling.)
-You pull yourself up in your crib and make a mess before I can get to you.
-You know what "no" means. And you don't like it.
-You know how to give kisses but you ONLY give them to mommy! You grab my ears or hair and pull me in and suck on my cheek. Sometimes blowing strawberries. It's my favorite thing in the entire world.
-You moved to an upright backward-facing car seat. You seem to like it better because you can see outside, however you cant crank your neck to see mommy or daddy driving anymore.

As I said in your last letter, your likes and dislikes have slowly become stable so I don't feel the need to update you on those :) You still like all the same stuff and hate all the same stuff. Pretty typical 9 month old boy.

We went for your 9 month check- up today and everything looks great! You had to get your toe pricked for a hemoglobin test, and a shot for your flu booster. You were so brave! You gave the MA a pretty mean look and just quivered your lip for a few minutes with a few tears. It makes me so sad but I know you already forgot about it :).
Here are your stats!

Weight 22.5, 80th percentile
Height 29 inches, 60th percentile.
Head Circumfrence, 46 cm, (I am drawing a blank on the % but its somewhere in the middle)
You are starting to "thin out" and lose some baby fat. Sad, but inevitable. You still have CHUNKY legs (just like your mama!)

In the upcoming months I know we are going to watch you do even MORE crazy things like walking and talking more. I can't wait for all the milestones ahead and watching you discover your world. It's a great one! And I hope daddy and I are making it great for you. You ARE our world. We love you so much more and more each moment. We are happy when you're happy, sad when you're sad, and hungry when you're hungry. (Yeah, we're that in tune! haha...) I love you so much baby. And right now, you are calling for me "maaaaMA" (in the same tone as "awwwAW." So I am going to get you, kiss you, hug you, and play with you til bed time. I can't wait. It's a good life doing that all day every day. I wouldn't trade it for the world and am so blessed to get to do that. Love you little man.

Love, Mom

(We didn't take many photos this month on our camera, and it's dead...so here are some from our cell phones...)

One of daddy's students gave you this balloon, and you would NOT let go for like 4 hours..it's at the top of our vaulted ceiling and i cant get it down...but you haven't seem to noticed after that day. Haha. Your first real "tantrum" was over this balloon. We tried to take it away to tie it to the stroller so it wouldn't float away and you FREAKED. Threw your head back, flailed the arms and legs and screeched!

First of all, you would rather play with this mop than any of your toys, second of all...stairs...you can do them!

Here you are just being cute playing with your toys. I sure love your cute little smile/tooth. (Though I don't think you can see it in this pic..sorry)

I blank...

One of my besties blogged this a few days ago....I thought it might be fun to do, for journal purposes :)

i am Kylie, a mama, wife, daughter, sister, friend.
i think too much.
i am happy just hanging out with my little family.
i have the cutest baby boy in the world.
i miss my friends.
i fear a loved one being taken from me.
i feel discouraged with dieting.
i smell like baby. (Puke, poop, and lotion)
i usually get ready for the day. But not today.
i search for ways to serve.
i wonder where we'll be in 5 years.
i regret not making the right education choices early on.
i love Drew
i care about people. Even strangers.
i tell Drew everything.
i worry about being a good mom.
i am not patient.
i remember lots of things from my chidhood.
i believe in my religion.
i sing to Luke. He sings back.
i don’t always reach my goals.
i don’t like confrontation.
i write my own songs.
i win, sometimes, but if I don't-well, it's a problem.
i lose every time Drew and I play any game.
i dance when I'm excited.
i wish I could find a way to reach my "un-reachable" goals.
i never enjoy cleaning by myself. Only when Drew is helping :)
i listen to Luke jabber all day long, and love every minute of it.
i don't understand how people can believe in one thing, but act the total opposite.
i can usually be found in my living room watching TV, playing with Luke, or reading.
i need prayer and the scriptures.
i forget little details about my day to day life that I need to start writing down so I remember.

I want to fill this out every year so I can see how I've "changed," if I ever do. :) Plus, each question really had me reflecting on my life right now and what I'm happy and un-happy about. Even if you don't want to blog it, you should do it. It helps you realize what you have, and what you want. :)

Friday night

We went on a date night on Friday night. All three of us. There is a place here called Nacho Daddy's and we decided to try it. You would think, from the name of the place, that it was a Mexican restaurant, right? Wrong. They had nachos. Every kind of nachos you could dream. You can build your own nachos, or order off the menu from their many choices. My kind of place! (Nachos are a long time favorite...who doesn't love them??) Drew and I built a plate of our own, and ordered some off the menu, that were....unique. Drew liked them okay, they were a little too weird to me. They were an Italian kind with parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and a white cheese on spinach chips. Weird right? They were kinda yummy, in a weird way. Next time we want to try the pesto/basil kind! Yum. Anyway, enough about nachos.

While we were there we decided to snap a few pics of the cutest baby in the world. Only to find out he knows what the camera is, and also how to fake smile :) Every time I would push the focus button and the red light would come on, Luke would get the weirdest fake smile I've ever seen. Luckily, we snapped a few of the fake ones...just a "few."
#1
#2 (My FAVORITE)
#3
#4
#5
And these explain our night...(Trying to get a pic of the two of them but Luke wouldn't stop screaming and moving..)

He learned how to drink from a sippy cup!
And finally, a couple normal ones... :)

I don't know why these are SO blurry, probably the setting on my camera. Sorry! Still cute though.
