San Diego
We went to San Diego for a quick get-away last week. Drew's spring break was kinda late this year, and fell the week before my birthday (which is today. Happy 23rd me!) So we decided to make a birthday/spring break little trip to Sea World. We left Sunday morning and drove to our hotel in downtown San Diego. It was a super nice hotel that lots of famous people have stayed at. It was the most expensive hotel in America in the 1970's, and had all of the original marble and carpet and everything. It was really cool to see. The lobby was super fancy, which made us feel super weird checking in with all our baby gear. Once we got settled, Luke had a quick nap and then we went to a mall right across the street and hung out for a few hours. The next day we went to Sea World! One of my favorite places, though I feel bad for the animals. I am obsessed with dolphins. Like, it's kinda scary how much I love them. So of course the dolphin show and the dolphin pool are my favorites. But the penguins are a close second! Luke tried so hard to stay awake for Shamu, but missed it by a few minutes. He just fell asleep in my arms like *that* (snap). We stayed until about 4 then left so Luke could have a quick nap before we went to dinner. We just got pizza (I know, diet food? not so much..) and then went back to the hotel to put Luke down. FUN DAY! Tuesday we went to the beach in Carlsbad. Drew's brother's wife Kelsea and her fam have gone to this beach for 21 years now, and we have gone a couple years with them. It's such a fun town and an awesome beach! We always have to eat at Senor Grubby's. YUMMY. Then we were on our way to our next hotel in San Bernardino. (We decided to split the trip up on the way home for Luke.) That hotel was SUPER nice too! Not as fancy, but more "modern nice." We swam in the pool, worked out, and stayed in watching Biggest Loser. It was such a fun get away. I'm so happy we were able to do it. Drew and I are going out tonight for my birthday! Not sure what we're doing but I'm sure I will blog about it later. Can't believe my little boy is 11 months tomorrow!! He looks like a little boy with his new haircut..pics to come.

He's Got a Way
During my Acclamation show in 2007, (before I met and was on Acclamation with Drew,) our show was a 70's show. It was all pretty fun. Maybe not very good with our 8 members that year, but we worked with what we had and it turned out okay. My absolute FAVORITE number was sung by one member, danced by another, and accompanied on the piano by a third. It has been a long time favorite song. Billy Joel's, "She's Got a Way." I remember thinking as I watched Stacia dance from off-stage, "Why can't someone feel this way about me." "I want to find a guy that thinks all these wonderful things about me." And ever since then, whenever I heard the song, I would think the same thing. Sometimes more of a, "I hope my HUSBAND thinks these things of me" thought. Until the other day when I re-watched our Accla show. As it started I listened close to the lyrics and realized, I am the one who can say THAT about my spouse. Sure, I hope he can say the same of me, but how lucky am I that such a wonderful song can reflect my feelings of my love? Changing the lyrics to "him" and "he", I was able to just smile as I thought of my Drew and the amazing man he is.
He's got a way about him
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without him
He's got a way of pleasin'
I don't know why it is
But there doesn't have to be a reason anywhere
He's got a smile that heals me
I don't know what it is
But I have to laugh when he reveals me
He's got a way of talkin'
I don't know why it is
But it lifts me up when we are walkin' anywhere
He comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
He touches me and I get turned around
He's got a way of showin'
How I make him feel
And I find the strength to keep on goin'
He's got a light around him
And ev'rywhere he goes a million
Dreams of love surround him everywhere
He comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
he touches me, I get turned around oh oh oh
He's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when he reveals me
He's got a way about him
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without him any way
I love HIM! Sorry for the cheese...it was needed!

The good, the bad, and the funny.
I know, it's supposed to be, "The good, the bad and the ugly." Not "funny." But I don't have anything ugly to share today!
The good: I haven't mentioned this on my blog yet, but I am doing weight watchers. I started Feb. 26th, and have lost 14.4 pounds so far. I HIGHLY recommend this diet to anyone, even those just wanting to maintain. It's seriously the best diet because you can "cheat" every once in a while, and you can eat WHATEVER you want as long as you keep the portions and nutrients within your point allowance. I have tried lots of diets in the past 2 years and honestly, this one is the best. It might be a little slower than others, but I never ever feel deprived, and Drew and I still get to eat out once a week and I still lose. I have almost reached my 10 % and then have 20 more pounds to my goal. Hopefully I reach my goal by mid-July. I will keep updating :) I feel so much better, though I don't really feel like it's showing yet. Hopefully soon!
The bad: Clark County School District is in the process of laying people off due to budget cuts. Luckily, Drew made it past the initial round, and now we are waiting to hear if he gets "bumped" or not. (If a teacher got fired in the district that has his credentials/teaching requirements, they can take his job from him.) We should know by May.
The funny: We have (had) a cockroach infestation. (No that is NOT funny, but it gets funny..)Drew claims it wasn't an infestation, but I say 12 a day is one indeed. We had our bug guy spray twice, and they were STILL showing up places. Finally, Drew went and bought our own spray to try and get rid of the little stinkers. I HATE them. Worse than spiders, really. They are creepy and yucky and run fast and...BLAH! Anyway, he bought the spray at about 5:00 p.m one day, and I told him we would wait til the next day to spray because I wanted to gut the whole house, clean and spray. (I assumed it would take a couple hours and didn't want to start that night.) So...he sprayed our door ways and the garage and we called it a night. We had commented a couple times that day that we were happy we hadn't seen any upstairs, and hoped they hadn't found their way there. At this point Drew was really stressed that I was so stressed and bugged about these bugs. Well, bed time came (10:30 ish) and I was the first to go upstairs. I turned on the light and BAM there was a cockroach sitting on the top stair. Ugh. I yelled for Drew and he came and killed it...then I said, "If there is one up here, there has to be more..." not 2 seconds later I turned to our bedroom and said, "MY PILLOW!" There was one sitting there staring at us like, "Haha, I found the WORST place in the house to possibly sit." I died. Seriously. So, Drew killed it. We looked all over our bedroom/closet, and didn't see anymore. Drew decided to spray that night instead. (He was mad at me that I said we couldn't do it later and now it was 11 pm and he had to spray.) Anyway, he eventually finished, however I would NOT sleep in our bedroom. (Remember from a previous post, our bed is currently on the floor...yeah, not happening.) So we slept on our fouton in the guest room. *Uncomfortable, LONG, miserable night.* I kept waking up thinking they were crawling on me. But the next night--there were 12 dead downstairs and NONE alive. (Huge record since they showed up.) And since, we've only seen 1 alive and only a couple dead, meaning they don't come in anymore. I just hope they are gone for good soon. I HATE them. Sorry no pics, I'm lame.

Month 10
Dear Luke,
Well, this month came and went. We did a lot this month as far as traveling, working on our house, and starting to play outside. You did a lot this month as far as development and growth. :) Not a surprise. You change every day and are always learning something new. Every time you do something new I scream and clap and almost cry and you stare at me like I'm a crazy person. So does daddy. (He is excited too, deep down, just too afraid to act crazy like me.) You are my best friend and I love hearing you scream with joy when I go in your room in the mornings to get you up.
Firsts/Things we did this month:
-You can move around couches like a champ. Soo fast.
-You have had so much practice moving around that you can almost stand up by yourself without support. So big!
-We went on your second trip from Las Vegas to Heber. You did great in the car on the way up, but the plane ride on the way back was a little rocky. It was past your bedtime and you didn't like the lights being off.
-You are beginning to understand words more and more and when we ask where something or someone is you look that direction.
-You got your second bottom tooth at the end of last month, but I forgot to update that!
-We are pretty sure you will get your top teeth any day because you have been GRUMPY this week.
-You still take two naps, but I think you could make the adjustment to one if I would help you. I'm just not quite ready to give it up!
-You are getting quite the attitude. You want what you want when you want it. And if you dont get it, tantrum it is. :)
-You got two more ear infections, in both ears. Luckily they cleared up right away with antibiotics.
-You discovered a new food that you could eat all day every day and love it. Spaghettios (YUCK) You absolutely love them. And that might explain why at your re-check for your ear infections today you weighed 23 lbs, 9 oz. BIG boy.
Daddy and I just love watching you play as you get more and more independent. It's so funny the things you do with your toys and the noises you make. Soon enough you will be standing on your own, and walking. I'm not ready for that. You are already pretty hard to chase around and want to be into everything. We found an above-the-ground pool to put in our back yard and we can't wait to swim with you as the weather gets nicer. It will be a fun thing for us. Everyone comments on how long and cute your hair is and we plan on letting it grow to see what it does. Then we'll decide whether we want to cut it or not. It's just soo cute! You grew out of lots of your clothes this month too. Which was sad. Most days, you look like a little boy and not like a baby because you are in 18 month clothing. But, I have to face the facts-you are becoming a little boy faster than I think! Love you so much honey bear. Can't wait for this month and all the fun it will bring!
Love, Mom

Bedroom and Broomsticks......
....this post is random, thus the title. :) I started typing bedroom and "bedknobs and broomsticks" came to mind..haha. That movie.
Drew, Luke and I went up to Heber two weekends ago just for a fun get-away. My dad works with one of the Utah Jazz marketing people, and was able to SCORE us awesome tickets. Including dinner and halftime treats. It was AWESOME. Our seats were right next to the Jazz bench, behind the hoop and 3 rows up. Let me tell you, THAT was a game. I felt like I was one of the players haha. It was a lot of fun. Drew had to go home to work on Monday (long drive by himself :( ) and Luke and I stayed the week to help my mom watch my brother's little boy, Maddix. Kellen and Dez went on a cruise for their 5th anniversary, and we watched Maddix for them. It was a CRAZY week. I thought it would be relaxing but no way. I'm glad I don't have two babies that are 9 months and almost 2...that would be ROUGH. It was fun to get away for a week, but I was happy to get back to Drew. ESPECIALLY because he's amazing and did some fun stuff to our house! After we got Luke to bed, he walked me around the house surprising me with things. 1-He made me weight watcher friendly potato salad. MY FAVE. (Okay, I do caps a lot...sorry...) So yummy and thoughtful of him. 2-He cleaned our master closet. Okay, mainly my side. Haha...which is probably more exciting to him than to me. I can be a little messy.... 3-He FOUND ME A BASKETBALL HOOP for our back yard! AHH I just about died. I love him! It was free and he just had to buy a net and figure out a way to keep it standing. I love it :) Luke loves watching me out there atleast an hour a day. Haha. 4-He painted our end tables brown to match our new couches. and 5- He painted/decorated our bedroom and I almost cried I love it so much. He is so creative. Here are pics!
Here is our *clean* master closet. You can't see the clothes hanging but on both sides there are two bars to hang clothes. As you can see, I already have a pile started of clothes I tried on and decided not to wear. Haha...oops.

A view from our bedroom into our bathroom. The door that you can see in the mirror is where the toilet is. We are going to paint the bathroom dark brown, like the colors in our curtain.

Poor little buddy fell asleep sitting up! Haha...must've been exhausted!
I took a couple pics of him today just for fun because I love his little outfit. (He is a tree-hugger like mommy... :) ) He loves it too..haha.
He looks funny here but you can see his bottom teeth really well and his LONG eyelashes that everyone comments on.

Sweet head.

Blurry but he was charging me...haha.

And of course I have to include some pics of the little munchkin. He is getting so big and will be walking before we know it. He is ALL over the place...he keeps me on my toes. The other day I listened to him on the monitor jabber on before his nap and when he fell silent I went to check on him to see if he fell asleep. Here is what I found:

I can't believe our next post will most likely be Luke's 10 month letter/update. CRAZY!! It's getting very warm here and I hope we can enjoy the few nice weeks before the hot oven sets in.

House pics and update :)
A couple weeks ago I said I would put pics up of our house cause lots of people have been asking for them :) Well.. I wanted to wait until we did all updates and got our new furnitures. But it is taking MUCH longer than expected. SO, I will blog about the stuff that is finished and will save the rest for later. It's really just our bedroom and landscaping that need finished. Everything else, I will post about. Enjoy!
Heres a view from the driveway..I didn't want to walk in the street so it's not the best shot.

I just had to include a pic of my cute "peep wreath" I made for Easter..we had to put it inside the door because it's too small and will melt outside.

Thats a view of the front room/door (obviously from across the room..) There is a pony wall dividing the front room from the living room.

Here is a view of the living room (other side of pony wall.) We painted and those couches/lovesac are new. We didn't know what to do with those cubby type things, but we think it looks pretty good!

This is right to the right of the front door, and a tiny view of the stairs...

And again, the wall/stairs to the right of the front door.

The front room. (View from front door.) Those are our old couches that used to be in the living room. I think we have WAY too many couches in way too little space but Drew disagrees so we'll see what we end up with. Our computer is upstairs in the guest room right now, that computer is my parents' and I'm using it to edit all our home videos right now...and that keyboard is also just temporary until Iget my piano here. Once I do, my piano will be the only thing on that wall.

Front door view (again.)

Back yard..there was an above the ground swimming pool in that beach sand, we don't know what we'll do with it yet :) Our hammock isn't set up either, obviously..

These pics kinda got our of order so it might be confusing, but you'll get it if you keep looking. Here is the kitchen. We eventually want black appliances.
A view of the kitchen and hallway to the laundry room (on the left) half bath (on the right) and garage straight forward...
Our bedroom is still in the works...we got it painted, and bought our decor and beadspread. We are just waiting to have our bed built (explain that later.) So I will do more pics of our bedroom/bathroom, and guest bed later!
